Addicted

I never thought I would become addicted to something (just not that personality type) but I have.  Of all things it is being crafty.  I am now addicted to making things.  Whodathunk-not me!

Our new house came with a small office space on the first floor and I have taken it over to be the office/craft space (but at this point it is basically just a craft space).  Oh how I love to make things!

My friend Megan helped me get started about two years ago (right when I found out I was preggo) to get started on a baby quilt for my friend Leslie's little girl, Pressley.  It was meant as a first birthday present and then I was hooked.  I thought it would be just quilts to be honest and I made my niece Kaydence one when she was born.  I will admit those first sewing projects weren't that great, but I was proud of my accomplishment and I have improved MUCH with more experience.  I don't know the order of events after that, but I decided I wanted to find a soft doll to make Afton and Kaydence that they would carry around with them.  I found a wonderful pattern at Bit of Whimsy Dolls.  Like with the quilts, my first few were not that great, but I have much improved!

I started looking up different ideas online and in craft books and my experiments have just exploded from there.  I wish that I was imaginative to come up with my own ideas.  I can follow patterns pretty well, and have come up with some things that have blossomed from other things I have seen.

I am going to a craft fair this weekend to see if I can sell some of the dolls that I have made (thankfully Bit of Whimsy Dolls lets you do that with the copyrighted patterns) and I have made a few for people that have requested them.  Over all I just love doing it!  Here are a couple of my projects...

This is the purse I made for Brittany.  I don't have a picture of the purse I made Sally (after reading this maybe she will post one for me!)  Both from free patterns online (gotta love that!)

Here is a doll I made from one of the Bit of Whimsy patterns.  A lady that Judy works with asked if I would make one with glasses.  I think she turned out cute!

Here are some felted letters that I cut out and sewed together to sell at the craft fair.  I thought they would be great to learn to recognize letters.  I made a larger one (an "A") to put on Afton's door.  I have some other ideas for these too, but don't want to give those away because they will be gifts for some precious little people I know for Christmas.  : )

My newest project in the past week was a makeup bag.  I think it turned out rather cute!  (found at the request of the youngest sista-hence the BP).

I so wish I was creative enough to think of things on my own.  Until then, I will fuel my addiction by looking at other craft blogs and websites and finding even more things to make!  Who knows, maybe one of you will be getting a hand made gift soon.  : )
